Self-Portrait's Azalea - the Story of a Dress

The London-based brand Self-Portrait has impressed style aficionados and Shonamac buyers with its subtle, feminine, and contemporary designs that are luxurious yet accessible. Founded by Malaysian-born designer Han Chong in 2013, the brand produces beautiful dresses and separates that are ideal for social events and parties. With customers like the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex, the brand's easily-identifiable (and much-copied) guipure dresses became the "go-to" for red carpet dressing and beyond.

The signature Azalea dress quickly became incredibly popular and was seen on Miranda Kerr, Maisie Williams and many others, elevating the dress to immediate icon status.

So although it has been in production for a while now, the Azalea forms part of Self-Portrait's Icon collection - a capsule of previous season designs that are perennially popular.

The Azaelea is crafted using textured lace and a contrasting, transparent ladder trim. The dropped waist skirt has a full, pleated silhouette and features a hand-cut, raw lace hemline. The dress fastens neatly at the plunging back using a concealed zip. It currently retails for £260 however we have three in stock at the moment at Shonamac - either brand new or gently worn from £145.
