High-Street Vs Preloved Designer – Would You Rather?

This week at Shonamac, we were looking at some of our beautiful pieces and noticing that many of them were coming in at a very similar price point to lots of high-street and premium high-street labels. This got us thinking. Would you rather spend £X on a new high-street item or the same on a preloved luxury piece from a huge designer?

We know our answer. So, take a look at a few of our picks below and answer the question - would you rather do high-street or preloved designer?

Classic Blazer Jacket

Classic blazer jackets are a staple for any wardrobe. Styling made easy, a chic and tailored jacket completes any look and can be paired with anything from boyfriend jeans to your favourite LBD.

Gucci Preloved VS. Reiss New

In-store now is this stunning Gucci stretch-wool jacket, finished with gold hardware accent buttons and neat flap pockets. Available in a size I38 for £225. In comparison, this Reiss blazer is the same price, at £225.

The Hartley jacket from Reiss is a single-breasted blazer with plastic buttons and besom pockets. Although the Reiss jacket is nicely made, to own a genuine Gucci blazer with all its details and finishes for the same price seems like a pretty good deal. Right?

Trench Coat

Trench coats work for every season and they’re the perfect transitional piece when you’re just not quite sure what the weather is going to do. Plus, they alwayslook chic.

Stella McCartney VS Ted Baker

A classic from Stella McCartney, we currently have this beautiful pearl-grey silk trench coat that we simply love. With an adjustable waist belt and classic detailing, it would go with absolutely anything.

Comparatively, high-street brand, Ted Baker currently stocks this similar-hued trench. Priced at £259, the Ted Baker style is actually more expensive than the Stella McCartney, which is £195.

Leather Jacket

A leather jacket is a must-have. But if you could do designer instead of high-street, would you?

DIESEL VS TOPSHOP

We currently have this rugged Diesel biker for £185 in-store in a size S. The perfect weekend jacket that goes with everything, finished with silver hardware detailing and multiple zip accents.

Comparing this style to the high-street, you only have to go as far as Topshop. This style is the same price at £185 without the designer label to match. Do you have a favourite? Us too!

Handbag

When it comes to handbags, there’s a lot we could choose from at Shonamac. So, we went for one of the most on-trend styles and shapes of the season, the ‘90s-style shoulder bag.

GUCCI VS MICHAEL KORS

In-store right now, our Gucci monogram Jackie style is finished with double straps, embossed logo detail and the classic Gucci monogram canvas print and is priced at £145.

For a similar price, this Michael Kors is a super similar shape and feel. A logo print and short shoulder strap give it the same styling vibes as the Gucci but somehow, it’s just not quite the same.

Jeans

When it comes to jeans, it’s a very personal matter. Many of our clients love to opt for higher-end jean brands because they just last season after season.

Lots of our jeans right now are J.Brand (available in-store), which is known and loved for its perfect fit and beautifully crafted denim in high quality.

Preloved designer jeans vs high street

For a similar price of £65, brands, such as & Other Stories, are in a comparable bracket. Classed as premium high-street, & Other Stories is slightly more expensive than other high-street brands but with J.Brand often priced around the £225 mark, you’re getting a beautiful quality designer jean for exactly the same price.

When it comes to shopping, would you rather wear high-street or designer if the prices were the same? Well, at Shonamac, now they can be. Come shopping with us today.
